The Cat:
East of Speirs Wharf, on the southern side of the Forth and Clyde Canal lies a large iron barge, beached on the grass some 30 metres from the canal. Rusting, holed and long since past its floating days the large barge rusts peacefully away. Approximately fifty feet long, the barge has 'the cat' spray painted on the side, as good a nickname as any for this relic from the better days for the waterways.
